(Massillon): Massillon Mayor, Kathy Catazaro-Perry has enjoyed much success leading Massillon through the first part of the 21st century. We understand that she would like to continue her service to the city in the next term. We believe that she has unofficially put the word out that she is running again with hopes of winning in November 2023. Although it’s early; at this point, there are no other candidates that we see who will step into the ring to challenger her. As the Democratic Incumbent, Mayor Catazaro-Perry has spearheaded several major projects in Massillon with much success, one being The Streetscape Project which included the revitalization of Duncan Plaza and the entire downtown area. In addition, after the city received over 16 million dollars in federal dollars from COVID relief, she worked wisely with council to spend that money on Massillon’s infrastructure which has long been needed. If Catazaro-Perry wins another term, whatever her ideas may be for our city, she will need to work across the table since city council is currently made up of 7 Republicans and just 2 Democrats. The good thing seems to be that local politics is not driven by party but by people. We wish her well and we’ll keep you informed of any other candidates join the race.
